aakash tablet pc review

What is Android?
Android is a Mobile Operating System owned by Google. Currently Android is growing like crazy. Report says that Google is activating around half a million (5 Lakh) Android devices everyday. Android has more than 2 Lakh Apps and Games. You can download Apps easily from Android market and most of the Apps are free. Android has lots of popular apps like Skype, Talking Tom, Angry Birds, NFS Shift, and much more. Believe me, with Android you will have unlimited entertainment.
Eventhough Android is a mobile operating system, it is not like Java Operatingsystem found in most of the mobile phones. It is completely different from Java OS. Android need highspeed Processor and RAM to run. Simply saying Android is similar to Windows Operating system.
This is a short intro about Android. Lets move on to Aakash Tablet.

The above list gives you hardware specs of Aakash tablet. The above specs arereally worth for $45. It worth it. Hail the Indian Government for giving such great product for cheap price. Ok, lets go through each and every specs in detail.
Display & Resolution: Most of the Android Tablets has 7″ display, so the Aakash. Resolution also seems great. But the touchscreen is not great. Itseems somewhat hard to use touchscreen.
Processor & RAM: 366 MHz Processor and 256 MBRAM is a decent spec. It is said that you can watch HD videos of 1080p.
Storage: There is nothing wrong to say about Storage. It comes with 2GBinternal storage and upto 32 GB external storage. You can store tons of photos, musics, videos, apps, games, etc.,
Connectivity: You can connect to Internet via Wi-Fi. It don’t have 3G. It has 2 USB ports. You can insert 3G Data Card for browsing internet.
Battery: Battery life of Aakash Tablet is 3 hours. Which is very low. A decent tablet should have at least 5 hours of battery life. I hope you can’t even watch full movie which such low battery life. You need to avoid watching movies and playing gameswhile travelling.
Features which Aakash Tablet lack:
1. Camera: Camera is a very basic need for tablet. It seems that there is no Camera in Aakash Tablet. This is somewhat disappointing.
2. Bluetooth: There is no information about Bluetooth in Specs. It is also another basic need forevery portable device. I don’t know why they missed out Bluetooth.
3. Sensor: There is no information about motion sensor, which is very useful for playing games and rotating screen.
4. FM: Aakash Tablet don’t have FM. It is another great downside of Aakash.
5. GPS: Aakash don’t have GPS. GPS helps you to find your Exact location. There are lots of Android apps which uses GPS. It is another big downside for Aakash.
6. Android Marketplace: Aakash don’t have Official Android Marketplace. This is a very big downside. It has its own Marketplace which only have educational apps.
Specs info given Indian Government is not enough. They just gave basic info. Based on the specs i made above review. My overall rating for Aakash Tablet is 8/10 (considering price). It is worth to spend money in Aakash tablet. If you have enough money then don’t waste it in Aakash Tablet, go and buy Apple iPad.
